ROCKET FAN
The fan is the very heart of every TerraGator® pneumatic spreader, moving thousands of pounds of product accurately across a 70-foot boom. When the fan falters, the entire machine loses its edge.
At Rocket Works™, we've identified exactly why the factory system fails—and we've engineered the solution.
1. The OEM Flaw: Protection Through Turbulence
The standard factory fan uses four round aluminum pins to provide structure for the retaining rings. These pins attempt to protect the trailing blades using a method that is inherently inefficient: turbulence.
-
The Efficiency Tax: When new, these pins disrupt the air so severely that particles cannot find a clean line of sight to the trailing blades. This "dirty air" protects the fan only by sacrificing aerodynamic performance.
-
The Exposure Point: As the soft aluminum pins wear down, the turbulence disappears. The airflow "smooths out," leaving the trailing plastic blades defenseless against a high-velocity stream of abrasive fertilizer. This is when the most severe erosion occurs.
-
The Foundation Failure: The original fan uses a split-tapered bushing sitting in a 5/8" aluminum midplate. This thin, soft mounting surface is notoriously easy to "cock" or tilt during installation, creating a distorted foundation before the machine even starts.
2. The Rocket Works Correction: The "Wear Shadow"
Our Patent Pending blade technology replaces chaotic turbulence with engineered protection. We replace the sacrificial aluminum with four precision-shaped stainless steel blades treated with our proprietary RocketCoat™.
-
Aerodynamic Protection: Instead of disrupting the air, our shaped blades are designed to provide a true "leading edge." They maintain their profile, creating a permanent Wear Shadow—a protective wake that defends the trailing blades without the efficiency loss of OEM turbulence.
-
Hardened Shielding: Because our stainless steel blades maintain their shape, they help keep your spread patterns consistent and your air pressure stable for significantly longer intervals.
3. The Proprietary Rocket Hub: Zero-Distortion Rigidity
A high-performance fan is only as good as its mounting system. We have replaced the weak, unstable factory mounting bushing with our Proprietary Extended Steel Hub.
-
Twice the Mating Surface: Our hub nearly doubles the length of the bushing mating surface, ensuring the fan mounts perfectly straight every time.
-
Maximum Rigidity: Instead of relying on three bolts threaded into soft aluminum, our hub flange is secured with a six-bolt pattern from the back of the plate. This steel-on-steel interface ensures Zero-Distortion Rigidity and eliminates the mounting tilt that leads to destructive vibration.
4. Aerospace Precision: Balanced to Within 1 Gram
We don't believe in "close enough." While the factory often skips precision balancing, every Rocket Fan is Two-Plane Laser Balanced to within 1 gram. By combining this aerospace precision with our extended steel hub, we eliminate the "buzz" and harmonic vibration that shorten the life of your hydraulic motor and fan.
A Better Return on Investment
True performance is found in the details. Our engineering goal is to at least double the service life of your fan compared to the OEM factory version. By stabilizing the heart of your TerraGator with a rigid hub and patent-pending hardened shielding, we help you stay in the field longer with total confidence in your pattern.
